A Tamale circuit court has called in one Alhaji Shani Mohammed to answer questions on an attempted assassination of the life of his competitor in the upcoming NPP regional elections.
The Walewale police command apprehended three suspects who confessed later on that they were hired by Alhaji Shani to assassinate his opponent. The suspects added that Alhaji Shani provided them with weapons and the exact location of their target.
All three of the arrested suspects were transferred to the Temale Police Headquarters where they were arranged before the court. The arrested assailants didn’t recant their confession. They were later remanded into police custody to aid in ongoing investigations.
It was ordered in the court that Alhaji Shani Mohammed be arrested to also assist in ongoing investigations.
It is reported that while they were in police custody, some NPP party gurus came in and attempted to bail them out.
